Fairing tabs

Postby MarkinNam » Fri Feb 10, 2017 9:32 pm

I'm looking for people with fairings for VT 250F with original tabs on the fairings, what i'm trying to achieve is to make my own by getting a mould (s) from yours, the proceedure should be straight forward by making ABS slurry and pouring my own tabs using this method https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Mh9KF69lfwA ,,,,,, thanks in advance to all who can help.

Sorry, not anywhere near Perth (other side of OZ) and mine is the F2 model which doesn't have those triangular bits. Seems like a good idea, good luck with it.

the saga continues with a search for suitable media to form a mold in which to pour the tabs, I tried bee's wax which became a sponge like mess when removed from the mold. Parafin wax will be next and modelling clay

plaster of paris May be ok but a bit dubious about it being so absorbent

Markinam - You have friends in the business, Plastifix and Plastex.

Both kits have molding blocks for copying things like tabs on fairings.

Both companies have a big presence on youtube.com.

Here's some pix from my work bench. I couldn't figure out how to add 4 photos. I will add each one very separately.
