Accidentally Bought a 1990 Swingarm for my '88

Hey all,

So the swingarm on my '88 has been claimed by rust, and I found a reasonably priced replacement on ebay that I bought, since it would be cheaper than paying to have my old swingarm blasted and coated/painted. The seller claimed it fits 1988-1990 VTR250s, but clearly didn't know that the 90's had wider swingarms than 88 and 89(and neither did I, until now). After doing some research, it looks like I have a few options:

1. Follow through with a Hurricane rear wheel swap/find a 1990 rear wheel.
2. Get my old swingarm sandblasted and painted/coated and use that instead, resell the 1990 are to one of you fine fellas.
3. Use a bigger/additional spacer/collar on the rear wheel.

I'm not looking to spend a lot of money on this since I've moved on to other bikes, but I do want to get it riding again and sell it for someone else to enjoy.

Thoughts?

My suggestion would be to use the original (everything fits) and resell the new one.

Yeah, I've actually been reading up on Evapo-Rust, which appears to not harm automotive paint. I'll try soaking the swingarm in that for a while and see how it looks afterwords.

or you could send it out for media blasting then repaint or powdercoat. ;)

if you do a '90 VTR wheel, be sure to retain\use the 88 hub & sprocket.
