Haven't been around for awhile so I thought I would drop in and see what's up

VTR is still sitting in the living collecting dust with the RD

I did get it a new stable mate a couple weeks ago though... I honestly had no idea you could have this much fun with 9hp

Good to see you here again :D

If you needed headgaskets for the VTR, where would you search ?

Your VTR is my dream build since I found your website. I'm striving to have mine look half as good as yours. Got a 1989 fitted with the black 1988 plastics (my first bike), its shinier now that I used some of the new Wipe New stuff for shining up old plastic and I recently had a reproduction sticker made for the other side. I also got the aftermarket middle fairings painted and installed but don't have a new picture yet

Looks like you got an excellent bike to start from!

Not quite, here's what it looked like before

Been trying to make it look like yours haha. It's looking pretty good now but I keep having my pilot jets clog up every week so I can't ride it as freely as I'd like to

Well, great job in that case!

Gotta the tank and petcock cleaned once & for all to keep that sediment from getting into the emulsion tube holes

I stripped the tank and coated it with POR-15 sealer a while ago and the petcock is new (China). It even has a lawn mower fuel filter on it, so I have no idea how something could be clogging it...

At this point my best guess is there's something in the fuel, maybe the tank sealer never dried all the way or something (though I gave it extra dry time in addition to the directions) and is dissolving into the gas?? and clogging the pilots. I've tried seafoam, startron, royal purple injector cleaner, and TCW3 2 stroke oil trying to keep it clear/clear it out but nothing has worked. The most recent time it has gotten clogged I could even notice the idle slowly decreasing throughout the day 200-300rpm until I went to start it the next day and it wouldn't run off choke.

I can still ride it if I put it on full choke whenever I need to idle or stop, since it runs fine off idle. That's what I have been doing in order to ride it while the pilots are clogged but I hear even that can be bad for the bike.

I'm assuming the float bowls are spotless inside...

Pretty much, I've had them apart many times since I sent them to squirrelman for a leaking issue and they have been pretty clean. No deposits to speak of

I replaced his old idle jets with new ones.
