First big bike I rode (at the age of 17): 1981 Kawasaki Z1000... sweet mother of god, that thing was heavy, fast, and scary!!

1971 Suzuki MT50, then a moped for the street.

First real bike was a '01 GS500E. Good bike to learn on. Glad to have sold it. Wasn't good for much other than short trips to the shop and that.

first bike was an XL250R 1983 , which i swapped for a 1990 ZX10 when i turned 16. But meanwhile i bought the accidented VTR and repaired it. I Used the ZX10 for one week, then sold it in attempt to stay alive longer  ... it was a good move !! lol

other than that, I got about a dozen CT-70's, CL-70's and other small bikes that i bought, revamped and sold over the years

I still have my first bike, a 1962 Honda CA100 ( the red one ). Started riding it in 1964 and still ride it to this day.

My first real 'big wheel' bike was a 1974 Suzuki TS250L bought new when I left school at the end of 74. Rode it every where, fell off a few times, and didn't understand what a dog it was until I went to better bikes.

Murdo,

I'll wager you still have some good memories of it though, right?

Yes, good memories and the broken bones/scares. Wouldn't want another one though.

Murdo,

While not close to my first, the '36 and '39 Indians I had treated me in a similar way being out dated and pig-ish at the time, around '63/'64. How I wish I still had them just to ride again. :D

I've just about finished the restoration of my 1938 Royal Enfield and took it for its first ride last week. Only went a couple of miles, but it gave me a new perspective on what my father rode as a boy. Girder forks and hard tail rear end was new technology then, but it is just plain painful now.

Steve,

I do hope that you'll treat us to some images of the Royal Enfield! :)
