If I was looking to buy a track bike, one that already had all the good bits on it would be a better deal than buying a 'dog' and having to find all the good bits.

They were 10 seconds faster in my first race, and even though I got faster....so did they. lol.

I think my vtr would be great for someone who carries around 50lbs less :) I'm 240 + gear.
I think I lose 7-8hp just in my mass vs some of the younger 180 lb kids out there.
Better still, would be someone tipping the scales at 140-150!

and as a side excuse, my wife quit her job 3 years ago and has been out of work since. It took a real toll on her.
So, we've been pretty short on funds and racing and getting more track time to get faster just wasn't going to happen - and then I had to slowly fund the repairs.

I need to decide now if I should part out the good bits (emulators, Penske shock) or keep them for a future package deal to a potential racer.

Oh, that’s too bad. I may be interested in the Penske, if I can afford it at the time. I assume it was built for the VTR250?

I’d also be interested in trading my shock plus cash, DMr custom built CBR600 unit

The Penske was a 'one-off', custom for the VTR250. Penske said they did make one other that went to a racer in Japan, but he had a custom frame\mods.
Sooo....
Penske can now make 1990 VTR250 shocks....thanks to me donating a shock for them to get a template. :)

It's sprung for 230lb rider right now, so you'd need to spring it and sell the spring (if you didn't need it).
I can get the build sheet\specs if you want.
I wasn't sure how I'd get anything else in there as Jamie said he wouldn't have time to build me a cbr shock. That's why I went the Penske route.
It was a bit over $1000.

We might be able to work something out here....

Let me know, I had this one serviced last year, they may use the same spring dimensions. I think this is the common 2.25”x6”

Update:
Crafted a couple aluminum hangers for Lic plate.
Tried to use plastic weld the front fender...not so great, so that's still ugly.
Have new brake shoes to go in when I pull the rear wheel.
I might try to paint the rims before the tire swap...nothing fancy. Flat white. Might add a perpendicular pink & blue to match the other colors on the bike...?

Just got a set of Pirelli Sport Demon tires. 110/70 front, 130/90 rear
Waiting for a DMr shock from Canada....from a crazy racer that just upgraded to a Penske :)

Hopefully everything is back together for a trip to the Dragon with some friends in Oct !!

I put new brake pads on the wife's mtb (huffy magna). Braking still sucks.

FYI - a Sport Demon 130/90 won't fit. It hits the swingarm before you can rotate the chain back onto the sprocket.
Even trying to rotate, alomst lifting the bike off the stand.
grr.

Ordered a 130/80. Try that.
