1990 VTR for sale

Got a ride to sell or looking for one to buy.

1990 VTR for sale

Postby 2-stroke John » Sat Feb 02, 2019 6:17 pm

Hello everyone,

After 6 years of ownership I have decided to my my 250. I am located in San Diego, CA. See link below for full information and pictures.

Does $1,800 sounds like a fair asking price?

If you have any questions please let me know.

Thanks!

That's a nice looking '90!

It's probably too big of a favor to ask, but could you scan the owner's manual and post it here? I have an 89 and a 90, and don't have an owner's manual for either. If you can do it, don't worry about trimming, etc. I'd be happy to do the cleanup work if you could just get clean shots of each page.

Good luck with the sale. I'd love to pick up another one, especially in nice condition, but the timing isn't good for me.

Mother Honda mAy not have published a separate manual for the '90 model.

The 90 VTR250 Owner's Manual must exist, because of the picture of it in the ad.

Perhaps my google-fu is weak, because I could not find it online. FWIW, I have been unable to find a pdf of the 90 VTR250 Factory Service Manual online either. There are a couple of scam sites that list it, but nothing that I would trust.

It would be great if you could post the links that you have found.

Thanks, but that link is for the 88-89 Factory Service Manual.

I have been unable to locate an Owner's Manual for either 89 or 90. I was hoping that 2-stroke John would be willing and able to scan his 1990 Owner's Manual.

I have been unable to locate a Factory Service Manual in pdf for 1990. I do have a paper copy, but it was printed on a low-res printer, and I have been unable to find my original pdf.

Getting well off topic of original post, I think the only thing that manual will not give you is the front brake on the '90

As already stated, I have a paper copy of the 88-90 FSM, so I am well aware of the differences between the 88-89 FSM and the 88-90 FSM. I just don't have/cannot locate a pdf of the 88-90 FSM.

None of that is relevant to my request of the OP to scan his 1990 VTR250 Owner's Manual.

FWIW, there are more differences between the 89 & 90 models than just the front brake. Each of the three models years are somewhat different, and the California bikes are not the same as 49-state bikes.

As to the OP's question about price, NADA has the 90 at $2325 in excellent condition, and $1525 in very good condition. KBB shows them at $1950 in good condition. I wouldn't sell either of mine for $1800, but I probably would try to negotiate for a lower price if I were buying. IMHO, the asking price seems reasonable, or perhaps a bit low. The recent carb work, low mileage, and condition raise the value. I would prefer stock exhaust and turn signals. It's hard to tell the condition of the tires from the pics, but the rest of the bike looks terrific.
